AU-UN Chief Mediator for Darfur arrives in Khartoum

AU-UN Chief Mediator for Darfur, Djibril Yipènè Bassolé, arrived in
Khartoum Saturday evening on an official visit to the country during
which he will hold talks with government officials on the situations in
Darfur states and the government efforts for realizing peace and
stability there. Mr. Bassole was received upon arrival at Khartoum
Airport by State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ali Karti.
Karti said in a statement to SUNA that the visit is the first by the
AU-UN Chief Mediator for Darfur since assuming the post and comes to
get acquainted with the situations in Darfur in general, pointing out
that the selection of Mr. Bassole as chief mediator was excellent as he
has extensive knowledge on situations in Africa and has distinguished
relations with the international community.
