Leaders of East Africa Journalists Unions reject ICC decree and declare Djibouti statement

Djibouti (smc) The vice president of East Africa journalists union EAJA Mr. Tervil Okoko heads Djibouti meeting for strategic planning, he said that EAJA will contribute positively in all Sudanese issues, he added that Sudan has the strongest trade union in the region and we want to learn from him. EAJA finalized Djibouti workshop with a strategy plan for the coming five years. The leaders and the representatives of journalists unions met after the workshop to discuss the situation in Sudan , the Sudan representative in Djibouti meeting Mr. Mekki Al- Maghrabi presented a comprehensive Enlightment about the situation in Sudan and the steps has been taken by the prosecutor of International Criminal Court against Sudan. Leaders and representatives of journalists unions stated their rejection for ICC recent decree. They said the decree is going to complicate the situation in Darfur and it may suspend the peace process in the region where innocent people are suffering for years. The director of Africa office in International Journalists Federation IFJ Mr. Gabriel Baghlo said: “ why the western media always do not let Africans tell their story, there are many good things happening in Sudan but the western media do not tell the truth in African affairs” he added “ this decree under any estimation is not useful. At least it is not timing if they really want to solve our problems”. The president of Tanzanian union Mr. Kampenga said “ we are not going to listen to this nonsense , we are going to visit Sudan to study its Experience, and we will open our doors for the Chinese investments” he added “ we support Omar Al-Basheer as a real African leader, and we Know that all the ICC scenario is done by the western countries to undermine African sovereign states”. The representative of Sudan said that Djibouti meeting approved a meeting in Sudan under the title “East Africa in Media, Sudanese Experience – Example” under the sponsorship of Sudanese Journalists Union. It is worth mentioning that there are ten countries under the umbrella of EAJA; Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Djibouti, Somali, Eritrea, and Ethiopia. Sudan has been elected for the presidency in 2007.
